Hi, I’m Charleigh – a somewhat awkward, curious bookworm from England. I’ve written for as long as I can remember. I know that’s sounds cliche but it’s the truth. When I was little I used to write stories about wizards and witches under a blanket with a torch. Losing myself in stories helped me through some traumatic times and I don’t think I’d still be here without it. My absolute aspiration is to become a bestselling author – writing books people love and can relate to.
When I first started this blog I had the vision of talking about books. One of the things I see everywhere is you need to have niche to build a successful blog and that bothers me. Why should we confine ourselves to talk about one topic if we want to talk about multiple topics? Life doesn’t work like that, my life revolves around many things and I want to share my experiences and knowledge on many different things.
I live with my best friend (who puts up with my moods, makes me laugh when I want to cry, makes the best jam on toast and supports me in everything I do), a crazy, black Labrador called Mulberry, and Midnight and Magik – our two naughty cats. I have slight obsession with cats, owls, biscuits and obviously books. I drink far too much Diet Coke, partake in too much procrastination and watch buckets of Netflix.
I suffer from PTSD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, M.E, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder and a ton of other things that are being investigated. I am not ashamed of my illnesses but I dislike the reaction I get from people. I want to change that with my blog. I want to raise awareness so chronic illnesses – whether they be mental or physical – become a part of society so us spoonies don’t feel on the outside anymore, so people are aware of these issues and they are integrated into normal, everyday life. I want to raise awareness so mental illnesses are recognised just as much as the physical conditions because both are as detrimental as the other, both deserve to be known and supported. The only way this can happen is talking about them, about spreading awareness and discussing the implications of these illnesses.
This blog will be my experiences – the topics I’ll talk about are books, writing, chronic illness and mental illness. I hope you’ll join me on my blogging journey, let’s be friends ☺️
